Born and raised in Vancouver, Dr. Richard Lam graduated from the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Dentistry in 2007. After beginning his career in Calgary, he returned home to the Lower Mainland to be closer to family and friends.

Early in his career, Dr. Lam had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Bruce Marshall on Vancouver’s west side for five years. It was during this time that he developed not only his clinical skills, but also his approach to patient care. Bruce taught him the importance of treating every patient with the same care and attention you would give to your own family. A philosophy Dr. Lam continues to live by is simple: “Patients don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

Dr. Lam then joined Willow Dental Care on Robson Street, where he served as the primary dentist and led a team for more than seven years. While he enjoyed working with his patients and team, he always knew that his true passion was to own and operate his own family dental practice.

In 2018, that opportunity became a reality when Dr. Lam purchased the practice of Dr. Jeffry Davis. Working alongside Dr. Davis during the transition and before his retirement gave Dr. Lam a new appreciation for what family dentistry truly means.

Many of Dr. Davis’s patients had been with him for more than 30 years. Seeing the loyalty, trust, and genuine connection they had with their dentist made a lasting impression on Dr. Lam. He realized that family dentistry isn’t simply about welcoming patients of all ages—it’s about building relationships, earning trust, and caring for every patient as though they were part of your own family.

Today, Dr. Lam is proud to continue that tradition. He is grateful for the trust his patients place in him and his team, and he looks forward to providing the same personalised, caring approach for many years to come.
